Planning Commission

December 18, 2012 - City Council Meeting - key actions:

  • Appoints Scot Stegeman and Russ Pinto to fill two vacant seats on the Planning Commission, by 4-1 vote (Patrick Slayter dissenting) (PD Story).

Change Composition?

October 4, 2011 - Council Meeting - an item on the agenda was discussed, and public comment was received, regarding possible modification of the requirement that members of the commission must either reside in or own a business in Sebastopol, as described in the current City ordinance.

Three motions were put forth - all failed to pass. In all three motions, no seat would be reserved for the non-resident, non-business owner. And again in all three motions, only one seat would be allowed for a non-resident, non-business owner.

The first motion would expand pool of applicants to the Sphere of Influence (includes close-in parcels slated for eventual annexation).
Moved: Mayor Wilson
Second: Councilmember Gurney
Ayes: Councilmember Gurney and Mayor Wilson
Noes: Councilmembers Slayter, Shaffer and Vice Mayor Kyes

The second motion would expand pool of applicants to 95472 zip code west of the Laguna de Santa Rosa.
Moved: Vice Mayor Kyes
Second: Councilmember Gurney
Ayes: Councilmember Gurney and Vice Mayor Kyes
Noes: Councilmembers Slayter, Shaffer and Mayor Wilson

The third motion would expand pool of applicants to the Sphere of Influence (includes close-in parcels slated for eventual annexation).
Moved: Mayor Wilson
Second: Councilmember Gurney
Ayes: Councilmember Gurney and Mayor Wilson
Noes: Councilmembers Slayter, Shaffer and Vice Mayor Kyes

Overall result is no change to existing ordinance.
